Ineos is reportedly in discussions with Tottenham regarding an early termination of their sponsorship deal.
The British petrochemical firm, which co-owns Manchester United, became one of Spurs ‘ official partners in 2020 as the club’s hand sanitiser supplier during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company also announced a multi-year deal to become Tottenham’s official 4×4 vehicle partner in December 2022.
However, according to reliable sources, negotiations are raging and the contract has the potential to expire at the end of the current season.
The partnership pre-dates Ineos ‘ $1.6bn (£1.25bn) purchase of a 27.7% stake in Manchester United in February 2024.
Earlier this month, BBC Sport reported that United’s co-owner and Ineos chair, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is considering further redundancies at Old Trafford.
Ineos had already made cuts at United, including 250 staff redundancies, removing Sir Alex Ferguson’s status as a paid ambassador, and ending the policy of free travel for staff to attend finals.
The announcement comes a week after it became known that Ineos had terminated its sponsorship of New Zealand Rugby (NZR) earlier.
Ineos’ businesswide businesswide “cost-saving measures” were to blame for the decision, which has sparked legal action from the governing body.
