Gede Priandana, an Indonesian bowler, became the first T20 international to score five wickets in an over.

In the opening match of the eight-match series in Bali, the 28-year-old seamer scored a hat-trick with a 5-1 return in only his only over as Indonesia defeated Cambodia by 60 runs.

With his first three balls, Priandana removed Shah Abrar Hussain, Nirmaljit Singh, and Chanthoeun Rathanak, who were brought into the attack with Cambodia 106-5 in the 16th over in pursuit of 168.

In 63 T20s for Indonesia, Priandana has taken 24 wickets, scoring 1, 040 runs at an average of 17 on the board.

Abhiram Singh Yadav, the head of cricket Indonesia, stated to BBC Sport: “Today Indonesia demonstrated two things at once: the ability to play games and win and the ability to create world-class moments.

Five wickets in one over is a testament to discipline, courage, and the training standards we continue to improve.

“This is not the finish line,” he said. This indicates that Indonesian cricket is improving.

In domestic T20 cricket, Al-Amin Hossain and Abhimanyu Mithun from India have combined for five wickets in an over.

In a T20 match between Indonesia and Cambodia in November 2023, Cambodia conceded the victory and accused the visiting umpires of “making huge mistakes” (making huge mistakes).
