Ruben Amorim has criticized his Manchester United bosses for allowing him to carry out his duties without restraint.
After making another important point after the 1-1 draw at Leeds United on Friday, Amorim made an earlier hint about issues that were present in the back-room.
He also made the claim that senior United figures had interfered with him and that the organization had grown too sensitive to criticism from outside.
He also mentioned the names of three well-known former Premier League managers, promising that their behavior would not be the same.
Amorim has stated on numerous occasions that he will leave the club in 18 months, when his contract expires.
He said, “I just want to say that I came here to be the manager, not the coach.”
They must perform their duties in every department, including the scouting department and the sporting director. I’ll finish it in 18 months, and then we’ll move on.
I just want to let people know that I’m going to manage this team, not just the coach. On that, I was very clear. In 18 months, that will be finished, and everyone will move on. That was the deal. That is my responsibility. not to instruct.
Neville is just one of the many well-known former United players who has recently expressed a lot of negative thoughts toward the organization.
The former captain referred to the home draw with bottom-of-the-table Wolves on December 30 as “the baddest of the bad”.
Amorim “doesn’t get” Manchester United because of his preference to play a three-man defensive formation with wing-backs, which goes against the club’s custom of playing with wingers, according to Paul Scholes, Neville’s fellow “Class of 92” member last month.
Amorim switched to a back three for subsequent games, including Leeds, after switching the system to four at the back for their victory over Newcastle on Boxing Day.
Following the 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage in August, according to a recent report, Christopher Vivell, United’s head of recruitment, requested that Amorim adjust his system following a particularly thorough explanation given by Fulham manager Marco Silva.
Unless the board “decides to change,” Amorim’s 18-month plan.
Amorim responded, “To start with, I noticed that you received selective information about everything. I think I still think I have the confidence of the United hierarchy.
I’m not the coach of Manchester United, but I’m here to serve as Manchester United’s manager. That is obvious.
I am aware that I am not the manager of Manchester United, that is not Thomas Tuchel, that is not Antonio Conte, that is not Jose Mourinho. And it will continue this for the next 18 months or until the board makes a change.
I’m not going to give up. I’ll continue working until a new hire arrives to take my place.
Amorim, who was appointed as “head coach” when the club announced his appointment as the club’s successor to Erik ten Hag, who was the manager, on November 1st, 2024, is putting his words to the test.
Despite his only winning streak at the club, Amorim still believes United are heading in the right direction.
Although it’s difficult to predict how the current situation will hold up over time, it’s still to be seen if his comments have any immediate impact.
Sesko is being misled by the United boss.
Benjamin Sesko, a £73.7 million striker, is not helping Amorim.
The Slovenian wasted more opportunities against Leeds, including the visitors’ best chance to score the winning goal when he sent Joshua Zirkzee’s low cross wide from six yards despite being in front of the goal. He has only scored two goals in 16 appearances.
Sesko has been selected to replace Rasmus Hojlund, who has spent two disappointing seasons as United’s number nine and has scored nine goals in 21 games, with the goal now coming against Sunderland on October 4th.
Amorim doesn’t seem to have a clear understanding of the situation.
According to Amorim, “Ben has completely different characteristics from Rasmus and he is acting responsibly.”
“He has to be there if you miss chances,” I know as a striker, because they [outside critics] will say the player did everything right. The first step is that.
