‘I’m Alive, Healthy,’ Sunny Ade Refutes Disappearance Claims

Sunday Adegeye, a popularly known as King Sunny Ade (KSA), a legendary Nigerian juju musician, has publicly refuted rumors that he may have vanished, saying that he is “alive, healthy, and grateful” to his fans.

The 78-year-old music icon released a press release on Tuesday via his official Instagram account in an effort to clear up the mess.

The singer reassured the public by describing the rumors as being entirely “false and malicious” and “true.”

I hereby declare as follows in contrast to the falsehood and fabricated news from April 28, 2025, which Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye and her associates spread when they discovered I was missing:

I’m still alive and well, Dr. Sunday Adeniyi-Adegeye MFR, also known as King Sunny Ade. My disappearance or my disappearance are entirely unsupported.

“I’m appreciative of my fans’ love and support. I appreciate your concern. I need to address these lies and let the public know I’m safe.

The statement read, “I admonish the blogger(s) and those spreading this misinformation to refrain from acting or be prepared to face legal action.”

The singer reiterated that he has performed at various events and is currently getting ready for an upcoming show in Akure, Ontario.

The “Aye Nreti Eleya” singer boldly stated that he was not kidnapped but rather took some time to recover in another popular video.

People are the honorary clothes I wear to protect myself, according to KSA. People started complaining about not seeing me after a few days of rest. I thank God that I didn’t abduct myself, I wasn’t kidnapped, and I didn’t go anywhere.

KSA was expressing his appreciation for the overwhelming concern his fans and associates all over the world in the video, which was captured inside a car.

People have been calling me nonstop for the past 70 or so hours, he continued, adding, “I must thank my fans everywhere.”

Rumour 

On Monday, one of his daughters, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, allegedly claimed on Instagram that Dayo Adegeye, the artiste’s informal manager, was holding her father against her will, sparking online concerns about King Sunny Ade’s safety.

Damilola claimed Dayo mismanaged his finances, isolated their father from his family, and gave him sedatives to control him in her posts.

She wrote, “My brother wants to go home, but Dad told me that.” He is missing. His phones are missing. He hasn’t answered his calls or been online.

She also demanded Dayo’s arrest, alleging King Sunny Ade’s family members had acted improperly and improperly.

Dayo should be apprehended, I want to. I want him to give them all the money they have taken from him. She claimed that she has a UK visa and that she can run.

Hours later, she posted an Instagram message informing readers that she had just watched a video in which Sunny Ade (also known as Sunny Ade) is alright.

More Rebuttal

One of his sons, Dayo Adegeye, confirmed in a separate interview that his father is “hale and hearty” and that he has just performed at an event on Victoria Island. A second performance is scheduled for May 1 in Akure.

The claims were refuted by their father, who is still working of his own volition, according to his brothers, Emperor and David Adegeye.

The allegations have sparked mixed reactions among King Sunny Ade’s children, who have mostly refuted the allegations and defended his safety.

The musician has kept his composure despite the conflict between his family and his fans, choosing to appoint a confidant and assert his independence.

King Sunny Ade, however, warned that he might file legal action against those responsible for spreading the rumor, particularly bloggers and online platforms that made the claims without verification.
