I Wish For Better Government In Nigeria — Wizkid

Ayodeji Balogun, a Grammy-winning Afrobeats star, is hoping for better governance in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.

The music icon emphasized the need for more effective leadership on the continent during the opening of his new documentary “Wizkid: Long Live Lagos” at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

During a Q&amp, A session at the event, Wizkid remarked, “I hope every artist from Africa gets to tell their story this.” “Because I’m not the only one from that hustle; we all came from there.” Everyone should have the opportunity to tell their own tale, in my opinion.

He continued, “I always hope for the entire culture to succeed, from music to film to sports.” I also wish for better administration. Regardless of anything, I’m just a very optimistic person. Everyone who creates incredible music and creative expressions from Africa is best.

The singer’s transition from Surulere, Lagos, to the world stage is the subject of the documentary Wizkid: Long Live Lagos, one of Tribeca’s standout international features.

The film highlights “the power of international music and art to shift perception and reclaim a sense of identity for its people,” according to a synopsis published on the festival’s official website.

Wizkid’s performance at the festival was a family affair, with his youngest daughter Jada Pollock and his long-time partner Jada Pollock.
