Ozzy Osbourne today had a send-off appropriate for a prince in Birmingham.

His beloved hometown of Birmingham was filled with people who flocked to bid the Prince of Darkness his final farewell.

As fans gathered along Broad Street in the city to pay tribute to the Black Sabbath icon, I had the honor of being one of the people who witnessed his final performance.

What stood out was the sheer love and adoration Ozzy had both in life and death. It was clear to see exactly what he meant to so many different types of people, which spanned far more than music. He was a reality TV master, becoming the very first to let cameras into his home and follow his life with wife Sharon and their kids. Ozzy became known for his personality just as much as his music, which certainly stands the test of time thanks to both Black Sabbath and his solo material.

One of the most heartfelt retirement shows ever, Ozzy made a fantastic return to Villa Park just over three weeks ago, joining other rock legends for one of the most heartfelt reunion shows ever.

After spending years in the States, he had wished for years to return to his beloved England. Thankfully, Sharon made sure to bring him and his wife back into their Buckinghamshire mansion.

Fans spotted a poignant detail that offered comfort when he announced the sad news of his passing on social media. Birmingham, United Kingdom, which depicts how Ozzy died where he loved, was the subject of the statement.

Ozzy made one last trip through his city today, passing by the Black Sabbath Bridge, which had been flooded with tributes for the previous week. As they began in Villa Park before entering the city, his adoring family, Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis, were there with him at every turn.

Ozzy, the family patriarch and pillar of strength throughout many difficult times, was so clear to them.

As it was obvious that Sharon understood what it would mean for Ozzy and his supporters, she had even paid for today’s procession.

Her sincere donation demonstrates how deeply she cares about her late husband and how she wishes to express that to everyone.

And the fans, who made every effort to ease the family’s suffering, were very accepting of that gift.

John Layland (39) pays his respects. Fans are given a chance to pay their respects to heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne as his cortege travels through his home city of Birmingham. The Black Sabbath singer's body will be brought back for a procession that will travel along Broad Street in the city centre from 13:00 BST today (30/7). The hearse will make its way to the Black Sabbath Bridge and bench where thousands of fans have left messages and floral tributes. Osbourne died aged 76 on July 22, less than three weeks after Black Sabbath's farewell gig at Villa Park, Birmingham.

They vowed to show them they were with them in their grief by chanting “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy,” “we love you Sharon,” and “we love you Osbournes,” and they tried everything to make a point of playing Ozzy’s poignant song Changes in bars.

Although I had anticipated a subdued and quiet moment, there was also joy and celebration.
