According to British model Eva Apio, a Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake, she never had a romantic relationship, putting an end to months of rumors on social media.
After an X user shared a photo of the pair wearing matching outfits in Paris, the rumors resurfaced on Sunday. The user wrote “Asake and his girlfriend, Eva Apio,” in the caption.
Fans who had long suspected the pair were an item were quick to react after the post quickly went viral.
Apio, however, was quick to dispel the dating claims. The London-based model responded to the post with a quick and determined “I was never his girlfriend.”

Although brief, the 24-year-old’s comment sparked heated online debates, dividing users on social media about how her relationship with Asake came about. Some people expressed surprise, while others criticized the tendency to make judgments based on appearances in public.

Dating Rumors
When the pair were spotted together at Paris Fashion Week wearing identical Marine Serre outfits, dating rumors first surfaced in March of that year.
Their well-balanced appearances and ostensibly close interactions sparked speculation about romance.
Apio used Asake’s songs  as background music in her Instagram videos, which further fueled speculation, while many of the singer’s photos had also attracted likes and engagement.
Both parties have remained silent up until now, despite mounting evidence that some fans believed lacked romantic connections.
Previous Relationships
The model has also been the subject of dating rumors involving famous people in the past. She previously dated ‘ Power ‘ actor Michael Rainey Jr. (2019–2020) and American footballer Owen Otasowie (2020–2021).
She later clarified that she only dated Tycoone, the man who she later claimed was linked to Nigerian singer Davido in 2020.
On the other hand, Asake has maintained a largely private relationship. Prior to splitting with American socialite Madame Mystiquee (Isha Sankoh), he reportedly had ties to the latter.
He was rumored to be a part of the American model India Love at the time of his engagement, but she later clarified that their conversation was solely business and related to a music video.
Asake has not responded to the question despite ongoing rumors about his ties to Apio.
The relationship between the pair may finally be settled, at least for the time being, given Apio’s recent denial.
The Eva Apio Foundation founder, Apio, has walked for well-known fashion houses like ASOS, Fendi, Off-White, and Louis Vuitton.
She recently appeared in the film project Off The Grid, which was directed by American rapper P. Diddy. She has also dabbled in acting and DJ.
