A cricketer from Suffolk has made history by taking two hat-tricks in consecutive overs.

Spin bowler Kishor Kumar Sadhak achieved the remarkable feat playing for Ipswich and Colchester Cricket Club.

Speaking about the sixth and final wicket, the 37-year-old told BBC Essex: “When I saw that the person was bowled out, I was flying in the sky. It was amazing.”

Taking two hat-tricks in any match is a very rare occurrence.

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc managed it in a Sheffield Shield game for New South Wales in 2017.

It happened in England at Old Trafford 113 years ago when Australia’s Jimmy Matthews took two lots of three wickets against South Africa.

But on both of those occasions, the six wickets were spread across two innings.

Sadhak, who is from Ipswich, said there were plenty of celebrations at the club following his special achievement.

“After the match I got plenty of phone calls,” he added.

“We went to a restaurant and we enjoyed drinks and food. We spent almost two and a half hours there. It was a very lovely moment.”

Of Sadhak’s six wickets, five were bowled and the other caught – with five of the batters departing for ducks in IpsCol’s seven-wicket victory.

So, surely his place in the team is now cemented? Well, Sadhak is not so certain…

“There are lots of other players who play really well. So, I wouldn’t say I’m the first person on the teamsheet but I will be in a priority position!”
