‘I want to dominate’ – Littler takes another step towards greatness

Darts are a sport that Luke Littler has won. once more.

Littler showed he could do it last year, but this year he showed he could not be stopped.

It ruled supremely from beginning to end. Any apparent blips or wobbles not really worthy of the name are just four sets dropped throughout the entire tournament.

Littler’s final flourish, his masterpiece at a World Championship where he made brilliance seem effortless, was Gian van Veen’s demolition of the house.

Unstoppable . At his post-final press conference, Sid Waddell Trophy in hand, he was repeatedly told that.

Littler refused to bite. He was as close to accepting it as he could get to being “unstoppable” at times.

It seems like those times come pretty frequently now that he has won 10 major titles, two world titles, and a final defeat in three of his previous victories at Alexandra Palace, and has already won 10 of those titles.

Littler said, “It’s what dreams are made of.”

Because that is your first time winning a world title, nothing else will ever match that feat for anyone, in any sport. However, the goal was to keep it.

It’s amazing to go back and forth.

The bad news for his rivals is that he is only just beginning.

Wining is undoubtedly not his teenager’s age, and his desire for success has not diminished.

Littler has unwaveringly demonstrated that he is the best player on the planet right now, if there ever was any doubt before this World Championship.

He was placed on par with, if not above, a lot of darts greats because of his accomplishments over his first two years on the main PDC tour.

Only Phil Taylor, who has 14 years of PDC success, and Michael van Gerwen, who has three, are the only other players to have won more than Littler, who is also the only player to win three straight titles.

Prior to 2015 and 2016, Gary Anderson held the title of champion PDC champion, and surprisingly, Littler has already won more major titles than the 55-year-old Scot and Adrian Lewis, both of whom have won consecutive world titles.

All of this is happening before his 19th birthday.

Van Gerwen, 24, was the youngest PDC champion before Littler arrived, while Eric Bristow, 23, won his second when he won his second, a year after his first.

Given that Taylor was 31 when he won his second of 16 total world titles and 34 before he won his first in the PDC, Littler is far ahead of the competition, especially given that “The Power won his last at 52.”

Littler’s ability to change Taylor’s record seems a real possibility, but it’s still possible. Whether or not you can imagine Littler still playing at the 2060 World Championship is another matter.

” It’s so far away, 14 to go. Another 15 or 16 years, I’d say… “Littler joked.

If I stay put for a while and maintain the hunger, I believe I can beat Taylor’s record.

However, once the hunger starts, playing is futile, as Michael van Gerwen once said, but I still have a lot of hunger inside.

It says, “If it happens, it happens.” I’ll be here to win for a very long time.

Littler is also succeeding in style, his 106.02 average being the highest since 2018 and the sixth-highest in a PDC world final.

In his 2009 victory over Raymond van Barneveld, Taylor once again set the bar for absurdity, and “The Power” has two more than Littler.

However, “The Nuke” is more than capable of matching these numbers.

Wayne Mardle, a five-time World Championship semi-finalist, told Sky Sports, “It’s a ridiculous standard that he continues to do.”

His tournament average was 104, and that’s the standard you need to beat to beat that.

We’re getting at the point where he had a 97 average in his “off” game, which he had. That’s how “poor” he has played that game, which is still top-notch.

He is “absolutely a magnificent talent, right up there with Taylor and Van Gerwen.”

Taylor and Van Gerwen have only ever been able to supplant Littler’s dominance in their primes, but the latter’s reign as the undisputed number one lasted for much longer than the former, which was significantly shorter.

You were anticipating Adrian Lewis winning in 2011 and 2012 because you knew he would win it three, four, or five times, Mardle said.

No one will know when all of this will end, they say. When this will come to an end, you never know.

The fate of darts appears to be in good hands, regardless of whether Littler can keep his Taylor-like dominance of the sport.

This year’s world championship final was the youngest in the history of the sport, with an 18-year-old and a 23-year-old competing for a combined age of 41.

Van Veen and Littler both played at the same level up until the final, and arguably even for the first or two of those.

We’ll always be engaged in combat, Littler told Sky Sports. Majors, majors, and professional tours are all available.

If he stays there for the entire year and I do, then in 2027 I and Gian might return for the final, according to Gian. “Now he’s number three in the world.”

We’re going to play it out a lot. We’ll be battling week in and week out because he knows he’s in the Premier League.

Van Veen wants to see Littler get another renewal, even though he acknowledges that Littler can occasionally be unplayable.

He said, “I am certain I can match him.”

Just two of the growing number of young athletes starting to influence the sport are the world’s world champions.

I’ve been saying it all week. Van Veen reported to Sky Sports that there are two of us, Josh Rock and Wessel Nijman, and that the young boys are present.

We’re attempting to overtake the guard, they say. He has already accomplished it. Even Luke Humphries is still a youngster in the sport.

“We are here to show how it is done, and I think this game is for the young players right now.”

Van Veen’s list may include Charlie Manby and Beau Greaves. However, these are young athletes who have a history of advancement.
