Although Meghan, a writer for shopping, is typically very pale, but she put Sabrina Carpenter’s go-to fake tan to the test. She raving, “you won’t believe the results unless you see them.
Earlier this year, Sydney Sweeney and Sabrina Carpenter walked the red carpet at the Met Gala. The two blonde bombshells looked lit from within as they matched their golden locks with perfectly sun-kissed skin, and we know the product they both love in order to get that red carpet-ready glow. While we’re not 100% certain Sabrina used it ahead of the Met Gala, we know she’s a fan of this product, and Sydney definitely used this Loving Tan 2 HR Express Mousse, which is currently on sale at Lookfantastic.
As someone who has a very, very natural inclination. In the warmer months, I’ve tried a variety of tanning products to make me less Casper the friendly ghost. I found a few products I could use throughout the summer to get a sun-kissed look because I don’t have much time to sunbathe (and in the UK, it’s rarely sunny enough to catch some rays).
However, I intended to test Sydney Sweeney and Sabrina Carpenter’s go-to tan to see if it would leave me with the same sunburn and give me the same glowing result as they did at the Met. And the outcomes are unbearable to me.

The express tanning mousse is said to give you a deep, natural-looking tan in as little as two hours, making it the ideal tan before your next event, whether you’re attending a celeb-loved gala or brunch. This beauty marvel promises a natural-looking tan in remarkably short time, costing £41.95 before being reduced to £33.55 at Lookfantastic. The tanning mousse, which was made for self-tan lovers in a short amount of time, is said to provide immediate color while later developing into a deeper, darker tan following the initial two-hour processing period.
I prefer gradual tanners over gradual tanners because they are more convenient and versatile when it comes to getting the desired shade of tan. However, I put this Loving Tan to the test by applying it using the brand’s Deluxe Applicator Mitt (£13.95) as directed. My usual moisturiser was actually applied in the same amount of time and ease. Yes, you must be careful when removing any streaks or smudges, making sure they are all even, but my back’s center (as expected) was the most challenging part. Despite that, the application process is less than half an hour long if you request a friend or family member to smooth that area for you.
I initially did the tan, but I initially left it on for the recommended two hours before putting it on. The tan definitely left some color behind, whether it was due to my extreme paleness or the relatively short development period, but it wasn’t the deep tan I had hoped for. I therefore gambled, applied a second layer of tan, and rested while I slept. I had just returned from a Mediterranean holiday when I woke up.
The tan boasts a quick-drying formula that features colour guide technology. This helps promote streak-free application and ensures you can leave it on for longer periods of time without any weird textures or risk of smudging. It also does not transfer to your clothes, bedding, or furniture while you let it develop.
Additionally, this tan comes with an aloe vera base that helps smooth areas of dry skin, which makes this tan so much more hydrating. My elbows and knees, which are dry, were a possibility, but it didn’t.
Someone with Edward Cullen-like skin (like me) can get a medium-deep tan thanks to the tanning mousse, which gives the person an olive-toned natural-looking tan. My friends couldn’t believe the overnight change, and not to mention that my skin is actually glowing in a sun-kissed way.
The only thing I’ll say is that the applicator mitt, which doesn’t feature the traditional thumb like most mitts, can be difficult to keep on your hand if you have smaller hands (like me), which it only occasionally caused was the occasional inconvenience when it slipped. If the mitt doesn’t work for you, the Loving Tan range does have a body brush for easier application.
A Tanning Face Serum (£32) that is specially designed to work with your skincare routine will keep track of your face’s tan as skincare and makeup changes. I’m very excited to try out a Tanning Body Lotion ($27.95), which has the same formula as the Tanning Mousse but in a lotion form.
This tanning product had two outstanding features, one of which was that it didn’t stain my nails or any of my baby hair at the back of my head/neck. I had a lot of trouble with covering some of my hair because I had bleached blonde hair because I had gotten the tan on my white nails while doing my hands, which would have meant that my nails and hair would be the same shade as my skin, but it hasn’t, which was a big plus when compared to other fake tans I’ve used.
Lookfantastic, Sephora, and Cult Beauty carry the Tanning Mousse that Sabrina Carpenter, Sydney Sweeney, and I all use.
