People praised Scott McGlynn after his appearance in Smithy’s stag do’s Gavin and Stacey Christmas special. But he was unaware that he would be compelled to do something repeatedly.
The Gavin and Stacey Christmas special excited fans everywhere, but nobody was more pumped than 38-year-old Barry native Scott McGlynn. The influencer and LGBTQ+ activist explained he was an extra in the episode, and many people remember him as it was a “fun and cheeky” part of the show.
“I appeared in the Gavin and Stacey 2024 Christmas Special, playing James Corden’s stag. It was a fun and cheeky part of the episode that a lot of people remember. Being from Barry myself, it was surreal to step onto that set. Growing up, I had always seen them filming, and that sparked me to get into acting.
The fact that my dad was a huge fan of the show and a Barry boy made it even more personal. In some ways, the filming resembled a tribute to him, Scott explained.
Fans have been begging him to do one thing for them since he made his debut in the Christmas special episode.
I’ve received so many unexpected but hilarious DMs, emails, and messages from fans asking me to visit their actual stag dos, according to Scott.
People have started saying, “Imagine having Smithy’s stag at my stag!” and it’s become a bit of a thing. I’ve received invitations to travel to Portugal, Cardiff, and Blackpool. It’s amazing that people want me there. I’ve been told to put on a West Ham football top.
“It was my first time ever being a stag do, which was on television, and now I’m being asked to be the real life of the party.” It’s been a lot of fun to watch how many people have a connection to it, and it definitely made me feel like a lad!
He claimed that the requests have been “unrelenting,” and that he would really like to be a part of a stag do, adding that he is considering it in the future.
He shared that “people are genuinely interested in having me as a part of the stag,” despite the fact that some people have said they will cover his travel expenses and lodging if he attends.
A few people have said they want me to make a surprise entrance, deliver a speech, or just be one of the night’s losers, Scott continued. One even said, “We’ll get you your own sash that reads “Smithy’s Stag!”
“I believe it’s all about the fun, reliving that scene from the show, and creating some unforgettable memories before their big day,” she said.
