Our beauty editor says, “I’ve got dozens of expensive perfumes, but these easy-to-wear £25 summer scents are the ones I’m reaching for every day, and they’re getting me so many compliments,” but I’ve got to have so many.”
I have hundreds of pounds worth of perfumes on my dressing table, including those from Jo Malone London, Maison Margiela Replica, Glossier, and other expensive brands, but recently I’ve been skipping all of them and choosing one particular brand of body mist instead, which are both for less money.
I’ve turned my head away from PHLUR’s Hair &, Body Fragrance Mists’ pricey, Instagrammable bottles of mostly gourmand or skin scents, which have become one of my all-time favorites for wearing scent. The price range for 88.7ml bottles starts at £25. The new Beach Skin is my current favorite, followed closely behind by Vanilla Nectar, and if you’re looking for a summery, irresistible new scent, I think these are worth trying out.
Meghan Markle’s signature dewy face cream is available in a lighter version, making it ideal for summer.
With new summer skincare hero Hailey Bieber, get her famous “glazed” skin look in no time.
First and foremost, they smell fantastic. Beach Skin is a little bit sweet, a little bit salty, and a little bit musky, reminiscent of warm seabed skin, sun cream, and sand between your toes, according to one of my favorite perfume types. It’s very similar to Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk but costs a lot less. If you’re familiar with it, you can get it for a 30-ml bottle for only £52.70. My boyfriend frequently compliments PLURU’s Beach Skin, which is unusual.
Online retailers currently only sell smaller bottles of Beach Skin, but I have a supersized 236.5ml bottle for £38.
While PHLUR’s Vanilla Nectar has notes of papaya, apricot, peach blossom, and honeyed amber, it has much more fruit than the brand’s vanilla nectar, which still has the “skin-like” base notes that it does so well.
You don’t have to be particularly sentimental about using these PHLUR body mists, which is another plus. I don’t feel like I need to “save them for the best” because the bottles are plastic and can be easily tossed into a handbag or beach bag. When I need a quick dose of perfume, I spritz Beach Skin on my desk several times throughout the day.
However, using body mists instead of “traditional” perfumes means that the scent is much lighter and won’t last as long on the skin, hair, or clothes. You might find that you finish your big bottle more quickly than you anticipated because of the cost, scent, and mini-moment of joy it brings me, so I’m sure you’ll need more regular top-ups. This is definitely in my opinion if you like a light, beachy summer scent.
You could try Jo Malone London’s new Beach Blossom Cologne, which costs $86, or Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche Skinscent, which is currently down 25% and costs less than that.
This Limited Edition Cheirosa Hair &, Body Perfume Mist Discovery Set contains four of Sol de Janeiro’s body mists, which are also very popular. You can try four of them for £26.60.
