I purchase most of my food from Aldi, from sourdough bread to halloumi. There is one item from there that I don’t buy, though, because it disappointed me.
I’m fortunate enough to live a stone’s throw away from two major supermarkets: Aldi and Sainsbury’s. Unlike most who do a weekly shop, I tend to nip in daily to pick up bits for the next day’s lunch or dinner.
Aldi is generally my supermarket of choice due to its wallet-friendly prices and scrumptious bakery items.
I can typically get everything I need for less than a tenner each day, while picking up a few essentials from Sainsbury’s can quickly tally up. However, thanks to its Aldi Price Match guarantee, Sainsbury’s does offer a range of items at the same price as Aldi.
However, many items I buy on a weekly basis are significantly pricier at Sainsbury’s, reports the Express.
Tofu, lactose-free milk, sourdough bread, and halloumi are some of the items I purchase at Sainsbury’s during the week that are more expensive.
Despite being a fan of Aldi, dishwasher tablets are always something I avoid at the discount chain of supermarkets.
Just a week into using Aldi dishwasher tablets, I attempted to switch to them a few months ago but encountered problems.
The Magnum Premium Triple Chamber All-in-One dishwasher tablets, which I typically choose, resembled the Fairy Platinum All-In One dishwasher tablets, were in question.
I was eager to try the Aldi tablets, which cost me a hefty £3.99 for 37, because I thought I could save a lot if they performed as well as the Fairy ones, which cost me a hefty £9 for 32.
However, I noticed that some dishes that were coming out of my dishwasher were stale and cloudy, and that food residue was still clinging to them after a week.
The same problem kept appearing in my dishwasher as I cleaned the filter and added more salt, which required us to re-wash several items in the sink.
Since that time, I’ve vehemently opposed purchasing any particular Aldi dishwasher tablets.
I can’t say for certain whether my dishwasher is the cause of the problem since switching back to Fairy tablets, but I haven’t.
My neighborhood Sainsbury’s has both Fairy Platinum All-In-One dishwasher tablets and Fairy Platinum Plus All-In One dishwasher tablets in stock, but I always have a few bags when they arrive in Aldi’s Specialbuys section, usually for much less money.
I’m aware that there are less expensive dishwasher tablets available; in fact, I haven’t tried Sainsbury’s Advanced Dishwasher Ultimate dishwasher tablets. However, Fairy’s Platinum dishwasher tablets have incredible cleaning power.
