Fabian Hurzeler, the club’s manager, declares that he is “100%” confident that Carlos Baleba will play for the club this year.
Manchester United inquired about the cost of signing the 21-year-old, but the Seagulls’ refusal to sell forced them to end their search earlier this month.
Since joining Brighton from Lille in 2023, Baleba has started both of their Premier League matches. He has made 80 appearances.
When asked if the Cameroon international would remain at Brighton after the transfer deadline, even if a lucrative offer was made, Hurzeler said “yes.”
Hurzeler remarked, “If there is a number greater than 100, [%], I would say more than 100, so fantastically confident.”
In addition to Maxim de Cuyper from Club Brugge for a reported £17.5 million, Olivier Boscagli from PSV Eindhoven for a free transfer, and Diego Coppola from Hellas Verona for an undisclosed sum, Brighton has signed six players this summer.
In addition to signings from Sunderland for £10 million, Olympiakos signed forward Charalampos Kostoulas for $29 million, and winger Yoon Do-young signed from Daejeon Hana Citizen for £10 million.
Before the deadline, Hurzeler anticipates no more arrivals.
When asked if Brighton was finished in the market, he responded, “I have a feeling.”
