This is your chance to join Lionsgate’s open casting call if you’ve ever dreamed to survive The Hunger Games, but one aspect has disappointed some fans.
Have you ever dreamed of entering the fictional world of Panem? Lionsgate Studios put out an open casting call for Hunger Games fans to become the latest addition to the hotly anticipated Sunrise on the Reaping – and let’s just say, the auditions have been interesting.
It was the studio’s turn on X. One lucky fan will be chosen for a role in Sunrise on the Reaping in accordance with the official casting call. Show us your best performance during an audition, such as acting out a scene, singing a song, or surprising us with something completely novel. All abilities welcome. No prior knowledge is required.
Sunrise on the Reap, Suzanne Collins’ most recent entry in the Hunger Games franchise, is a prequel to Haymitch, which will feature the beloved character mentor Haymitch. It will be released as a major motion picture in 2026. Already starring the star-studded cast are Kieran Culkin and Elle Fanning, who have both received Oscars.

Three crucial factors will be taken into account when judging for the auditions, Lionsgate have stated: 25% acting ability, 25% charisma, and 50% thematic relevance. The prize includes an on-set visit with a guest in addition to the chance to appear on-screen.
Users have been putting their best effort into making TikTok famous all over the site. And judging from the auditions, it seems that fans of the Hunger Games were impressed by three phrases: “surprise us!” and “all talents welcome; no experience required.
hopeful starlet @jwalkerbooks conducted one of the most popular auditions so far. She walked out of a refrigerator door in an explosive (literal) audition with only a bottle of milk in hand. The result is a flashy appearance.
She referred to her performance in “My audition for SOTR (as President Snow’s milk).” She continued, “I can be 2%, 1%, or completely whatever you need.” One commenter attempted to change the iconic phrase “Fire is catching” from the franchise to something more appropriate. No. The liquid is spilt.
Fans have been eager to play other food items as well. Another fan posed next to a bowl of eggs in her kitchen in an audition for the role of “one of the Google eggs Katniss brings Haymitch.”
Fair enough, some auditions featured real talent. After auditioning “for a tribute who uses camouflage to hide in the hunger games,” user @simplystephjaye showed off abilities that Peeta himself would be envious of. Then she began filming herself against a wall covered in wallpaper.
Some strong acting and script-writing skills have been displayed too. TikTokker @oyesebastien caught the world’s attention after auditioning to be a District One tribute (aka one of the antagonists). Strolling in front of the camera, he proceeded to let out a menacing growl, before saying his now-famous line, “What was your name again? Haymitch? More like, hey b—h!”
Of course, many people are unsure about Lionsgate’s ability to hire one of the many hopefuls given the standard of the auditions. Despite this, some TikTok users have been expressing their admiration for the clever marketing, with many of the auditions receiving millions of views.
Unfortunately, not all fans approve of the casting call. Only legal residents of one of the 50 US states may enter, per the competition’s official regulations. which has caused some non-American fans to feel less hopeful about seeing their film on the big screen.
