Hugh Jackman, the married father of Deborra-Lee Furness for almost 30 years, and his famous new girlfriend posed for photos for the first time since then.
Hugh Jackman made his red carpet debut with his famous new girlfriend, just months after finalising his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness. The two were married for almost 30 years.
On Sunday (26 October) Hugh and musical theatre icon Sutton Foster attended the Los Angeles premiere of his new film Song Sung Blue together, marking their first red carpet appearance as a couple. The 57-year-old actor turned up in a classic black suit and smiled with his arm around Sutton, who wore a black satin dress.
Although the two have previously posed for photos on red carpets during various date nights, they have never done so. They both appeared incredibly content and at ease together. Only four months after his and his ex-wife Deborra-Lee’s divorce was finalized, he received this news.

His marriage to Deborra-Lee ended in 2003, seven years after the pair first met. At a performance of Thoroughly Modern Millie, in which Sutton played the lead, the two Broadway legends cross paths. They would dance and reconnect more than ten years later during Hugh’s 68th Tony Awards ceremony.
They were announced as co-stars in the musical The Music Man on Broadway in March 2019. Due to the pandemic, rehearsals were halted until December 2021, but they resumed in February that year.
Their friendship whilst working together was extremely close, with Sutton referring to herself as the “luckiest woman in the world” for getting to work with Hugh, and Hugh getting the audience to sing Happy Birthday to Sutton on her 47th birthday.
After 27 years of marriage, Hugh and Deborra-Lee made the announcement of their breakup the following year. In 1996, the two had two children who had been adopted.
However, they issued a statement in September 2023 saying: “We have been blessed to have spent almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. We have chosen to separate to pursue our individual growth because our journey is now changing.
Sutton and her husband Ted Griffin split up after ten years of marriage at the time. Sutton and Hugh were pictured holding hands as they ate dinner in January of this year.
They were photographed kissing outside the American fast food chain In-N-Out a week later. Deborra-Lee and Hugh had already filed for divorce in May, and their divorce was settled in June.
Hugh and Sutton’s first solo project, Song Sung Blue, is the first time they have done so. Hugh is depicted in a Neil Diamond tribute act in the movie, which also includes Kate Hudson.
