Adetunji Adeleye, the commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, has provided details about how the corps detained at least 61 suspected criminals.
Adeleye claimed that 39 men and 61 suspected criminals were detained in a remote area between Ifon and Akure during an interview with The Morning Brief on Wednesday.
Some of the criminals were from Kano and Sokoto, where the US military carried out airstrikes last week against terrorists, according to Adeleye.
39 men were among the 61 suspected criminals who were detained in a remote location between Ifon and Akure, specifically in the Elegbeka forest. We have started profiling because other suspects were paraded as well.
He declared, “Our necessary steps in collaboration with other relevant security agencies will be taken as soon as it is concluded.”
The suspects met in Elegbeka in Ose, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, according to the commander, who claims preliminary investigations show that they met in two vehicles from Sokoto State and a small number left Kano. According to legend, they had a forest settlement in mind.

He added that Amotekun has border patrols, border patrols, armored rangers in the forest, and 24/7 enhanced patrols. He added that these activities make it easier to identify individuals who illegally occupy nearby forest reserves.
We received reliable information during one of these operations, followed up, and managed to apprehend 39 of them. After that, Adeleye said, we returned them to the company for in-depth profiling.
The commander noted that Amotekun is still a significant solution to the root of insecurities despite his repeated emphasis over the past five years.
Because Amotekun offers a “homegrown solution to domestic or local problems,” he said. “This is because in our domain, there is insecurity.”
