Although leopard print has always been popular (at least in my opinion), the trend really took off last year thanks to the well-known “mob wife” aesthetic and designer brands that showcased it on their runways. Although leopard print is still a big deal this year, there’s a new print taking over—cow print!
Cow print is everywhere this spring, unquestionably linked to the cowboy core craze sparked by Taylor Swift and Beyoncé and the general rise in popularity of country music. From mules to tote bags, jackets and skirts, there really isn’t anything you can’t find in the animal-inspired motif.
If the Western trend isn’t your thing, don’t let it put you off. Although this print is a staple of that style, we believe that many cow print fashion items have taken on a new life and are no longer in line with it. You can make the pieces your own, based on your personal style, with the help of so many brands that have created items in this well-known print. However, we’re here to help you out with a little styling inspiration.

THE MAXI SKIRT
M&, S has just dropped a cow print satin slip skirt, and it’s selling fast! One of the simplest ways to incorporate cow prints into your wardrobe is this. Simply put, wear a skirt that is comparable to what you already have. We suggest pairing it with a plain white t-shirt, leather goods, and biker boots. As the spring arrives, you could also layer over a leather or suede jacket.
SHOP THE LOOK: Animal print midaxi skirt, M&, S, £35 here, Everyday fit t-shirt, M&, S, £8.50 here, Dayla boots, Schuh, currently £24 here, Suede shopper bag, Mango, £59.99 here, and Outta Love sunglasses, Le Specs, £55 here.
THE CLOG

A great way to experiment with cow print footwear is if you’re not entirely committed to the trend. Although there are many cow print loafers everywhere, these Topshop clogs are my absolute obsession. As the new season begins, they look so cool and make for great transitional footwear. For a casual day look that is effortlessly chic and put-together, pair some indigo denim jeans with a black blouse.
SHOP THE LOOK: Annie leather buckle clogs, Topshop, £55 here, Straight regular jeans, H&, M, £37.99 here, Embroidered blouse, H&, M, £22.99 here, and Ramona mini grab bag, Fiorelli, currently £26.55 here.
THE JACKET

More of a fashion maximalist? Why not dive head first into the trend and choose a cow print or even a co-ord jacket? We advise pairing your jacket with a pair of ecru-colored jeans, any style you prefer, from straight leg to wide-leg and turn-up hems, to avoid appearing too costume-y. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different brown tones and shades because we believe cow print works wonderfully with brown suede. For the upcoming season, these Dr. Martens fisherman sandals are in style.
SHOP THE LOOK: Cow print collared jacket, YOURS Clothing, £39.99 here, The wide-leg jeans, M&, S, £35 here, Wrenlie bronx fisherman suede sandals, Dr. Martens, £150 here, and Suede grab bag, M&, S, £89 here.
THE TOTE BAG

Keep your cowboy print tote bag a pair of denim and stick to the cowboy theme. We don’t believe cow print is the best option for print clashing because it already has a loud effect on the color and looks most elevated when worn with plain denim. The completely sold-out & Other Stories tote bag can be replaced with this bag from PLT.
SHOP THE LOOK: Oversized tote bag, Pretty Little Thing, currently £13 here, Mid blue denim jacket, Next, £48 here, Authentic denim jeans, Next, £26 here, and VL Court 3.0 trainers, Adidas, £60 here.
