Tokyo will host the 20th World Athletics Championships on September 13 through 21 and will broadcast live on the BBC.

At the Budapest World Championships in 2023, Great Britain and Northern Ireland won two gold medals, three silvers, and five bronze medals, bringing home the best total of their ten medals.

Keely Hodgkinson (800m) and Matthew Hudson-Smith (400m) will compete for the title in Japan, while Katarina Johnson-Thompson (heptathlon) and Josh Kerr (heptathlon) will compete for the title.

Two years ago, Britain won four medals from the five relay events while Zharnel Hughes (100m) and Ben Pattison (800m) both won bronze.

World record-holder Armand Duplantis, world and Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles, and five-time 100m world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will compete in her final championships before retiring.

The 67,750-capacity Japan National Stadium will host 49 gold medals in nine days.

On BBC One or BBC Two, live coverage of the action can be found, as well as on the BBC Sport website and app.

Daily highlights will also be available online and on BBC Red Button, BBC Three, iPlayer, and BBC Red Button.

Daily live text commentary, video highlights, analysis, reports, and results will be available on the BBC Sport website.
