A suicide bomber was the target of the explosion in Abuja, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
In the explosion at a bus stop along the Mararaba-Nyanya Expressway on Monday, one person was hurt.
A comprehensive investigation, including thorough forensic analysis, had been requested by the police to ascertain the explosion’s precise cause and nature.
NEMA claimed that the explosion occurred as a suicide bomber attempted to enter the Mogadishu army cantonment while carrying an IED.

On Monday, around 1:47 p.m., the agency received an alert about the explosion. A team was then immediately set up to coordinate the response.
At the scene that was already cordoned, “the team encountered stern looking security personnel.” A Suicide Bomber attempted to enter the Barracks, but was unsuccessful as an IED exploded on him as he tried to negotiate his way inside.
One injured passerby was left by the suicide bomber, who died instantly. The NPF’s EOD unit brought the operation to a close at 17:29hrs, bringing the operation to a close by moving the injured to the National Hospital. NEMA, Military, NPF, DSS, and FRSC were among the attendees.

NEMA AOO received an alert about an explosion in front of the Abacha Barracks along Abuja-Keffi Road at around 13:47 hours on May 26, 2025. A Suicide Bomber attempted to enter the Barracks, but was unsuccessful as an IED exploded on him as he tried to negotiate his way inside.
One injured passerby was left behind by the suicide bomber’s immediate death. The NPF’s EOD unit brought the operation to a close at 17:29hrs when the injured were taken to a National Hospital for further investigation.
