The cost of getting health insurance is going to go up significantly for millions of Americans.
One of the main issues that caused the US government to shut down for 43 days last year, the longest shutdown in history was a dispute over government subsidies for healthcare.
Republicans and Democrats continued to disagree on extending the subsidies even after the shutdown ended.
The health costs for 24 million people dramatically increased as the clock ticked in on January 1 at midnight.
