Aitch is heading to the jungle as part of the 2025 cast of I’m A Celebrity, and fans are wondering if he will stir up trouble by running his mouth as he has in the past
As Aitch is gearing up for a stint in the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, some fans are wondering if the rapper will cause as much controversy Down Under as he has throughout his career.
The singer, 25, whose real name is Harrison James Armstrong, has scored major hits and collaborated with big artists such as Ed Sheeran, Ashanti and AJ Tracey — but headlines about him haven’t always been positive.
One of Aitch’s most infamous moments came in 2022, when an advertisement for his debut album Close to Home mistakenly covered a mural of Joy Division icon Ian Curtis in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
The mural backlash that turned Manchester against him
The artwork, which was painted by street artist Akse P19, had become a local landmark, and its disappearance sparked outrage among Mancunians. Aitch was blindsided by the backlash, and told BBC Breakfast: “I felt like the most hated person in Manchester for about 40 minutes.”
He recalled discovering the mistake on social media, saying: “I seen it on Twitter, that was the first time I seen it…There was an outrage burst of like, ‘What’s Aitch doing putting his album over Ian’s mural’, and then I was like, ‘Oh god, what’s this?’”
The rapper moved quickly, contacting Amazon and Akse P19 to stop the billboard from being erected and arrange for the mural to be restored. “We just put a stop to mine straight away,” he added.
Rap beef with Central Cee
Tensions between Aitch and Central Cee were simmering on the UK rap scene for a while before they spilled out into their respective songs in 2025.
Central Cee took a pointed swipe on 5 Star, rapping: “I felt like a p***k when I went to the BRITs, they gave the award to a guy called Aitch.”
Aitch retaliated with his own diss track, A Guy Called?, accusing the rapper of being “all style and no substance”. The spat fuelled debates between the artists’ fans for weeks.
Lyric controversy
In 2023 Aitch faced heat for his explicit single Landslide with Nafe Smallz. Fans slammed the track and its provocative music video as inappropriate, especially given the young age of much of his fanbase.
Lyrics such as “Shorty said she on her period, I might put it all in her backside,” and “She s****d me off and then filmed it, b***h done it all for the clout,” caused particular uproar.
Aitch defended himself on Instagram, saying: “Sorry for my language… but I’m a rapper at the end of the day. Everyone ease up a bit — I’m not always an angel.”
The Bali girlfriend incident
Aitch’s storytelling landed him in more trouble when he told an interviewer about an ex soiling the sheets on holiday. The rapper laughed about how she “thought she’d got away with murder,” and described the scene in graphic detail.
Aitch said: “I was with a girl, and we went to sleep and woke up the next morning…tried to get it cracking. I f**king promise you all, yeah… she’s f**king s**t all over the place…She obviously doesn’t know, she obviously farted, thought she got away with murder.”
Australian influencer Lola Thompson later revealed she was the girl in question and slammed him for exaggerating the story for entertainment.
“I did this in my sleep… it was a little bit in my pants. It didn’t go on the bed. It didn’t go on him,” she said. Lola explained that she had been extremely unwell with food poisoning, and insisted the rapper had comforted her at the time rather than acting disgusted.
She criticised him for spinning the moment into a joke at her expense. Lola also strongly denied Aitch’s claim that the incident happened when they were trying to be intimate the next morning, saying the idea was completely unrealistic considering how sick she had been.
The influencer clarified: “I’m not having an experience like I did that night, and then wanting to be intimate with my boyfriend the next day. That’s just not something I would want to do, especially ‘Bali Belly’ makes you feel like you’re dying, like, I’m not in the mood.”
A Harry Styles dig
At the 2023 BRIT Awards, Aitch raised eyebrows when he echoed Harry Styles ’ Grammys speech during his own acceptance speech, saying: “Not many people where I’m from…get the opportunity to stand up here.”
Fans instantly interpreted it as a cheeky jab at Styles, who had been widely mocked for saying something similar. He also dropped an accidental expletive on stage, and then admitted: “I would’ve liked a bit more liquid courage before being handed a mic.”
