Martin Roberts, the presenter of Homes Under The Hammer, has been working to turn a rural Welsh pub into a tourist hotspot, but the building needs urgent renovations.
Martin Roberts, the star of Homes Under the Hammer, openly admitted to hitting rock bottom with his most recent project as he struggles to turn a mediocre Welsh pub into a holiday hotspot. The rural Hendrewen Hotel in Rhondda Valley is currently facing a significant challenge because some of its components are close to collapse and are in disarray.
Roberts, 61, is now faced with significant delays two years into the renovation after being confident that a two-year schedule and a £500,000 budget would be sufficient to revive the eight-bedroom inn. He told The Sun, “I’m still smiling, but what a challenge it’s been.

Roberts anticipates that the project will be “60%” complete, and he is optimistic that work will “come together really quickly” as he draws nearer to the end of the road. The TV personality recounted the numerous obstacles he’s encountered, saying there were “lots of hoops to jump through”, and initially finding the building plagued by slanted walls, collapsing windows, and bats roosting in a leaking roof, reports the Express.
In a surprising twist, Roberts revealed that he had not even disclosed the details of his decision to purchase the crumbling pub while recovering from a heart operation with his wife Kirsty.

Each of the eight individually themed bedrooms at the hotel has an “individual feel,” each with a name and a “personal feel”.
The property is working on a new bar and restaurant as well.
The establishment has a teaching kitchen where famous chefs will share their culinary expertise with the area, bringing about 30 jobs to the area.
There will also be a stage area to showcase one’s musical skills for those who want to be musicians.
