Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty are set to tie the knot at Bath Abbey tomorrow, but the timing of their festive wedding has led some to wonder whether the couple were inspired by a very special family milestone: the Christmas marriage of Holly’s parents, Gordon and Tana Ramsay, 29 years ago.
On December 21, the renowned chef and his wife celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. Gordon described Tana as his “best friend,” saying: “29 years ago I got to marry my best friend, what a journey and thank you. ” I really, really love you.
In an interview with The Guardian, Tana revealed that when they first met, she thought Gordon was a “complete arrogant arse.” It was when they met a second time that sparks flew, and her opinion of her now husband of almost 30 years softened.
In an interview with People, at the time of their 25th anniversary in 2021, Tana gushed: “When it comes to our busy schedules, people say, ‘It must be hard having to be apart so often. It is, but I feel really lucky that I still get butterflies when we haven’t seen each other for a few weeks. I never want to take that for granted, even with all these kids to worry about. We have a lot of fun.”

People are unsure whether the young couple purposefully chose the festive season to echo Holly’s parents’ almost three-decade-long love story because of the timing of Holly and Adam’s wedding and the Ramsays’ anniversary. Holly and Adam’s wedding seems to follow the family custom of the holiday season, even though it coincides with Christmas.
Adam, 30, and Holly, 25, took a break from planning their wedding and joined Gordon and Tana, Holly’s parents, for a festive trip to Finland. Unfortunately, the Peaty family experienced disappointment while the couple celebrated abroad. Caroline, Adam’s mother, turned 60 on December 18, but the couple reportedly didn’t take into account the milestone in their social media posts. Despite conflict between the families, Adam and Holly retreated to London to dine at Gordon’s Lucky Cat in Mayfair while sharing sushi, prawns, and caviar with friends.
Family disputes appear to have played a large role in the run-up to the wedding. Caroline Peaty is understood to be excluded from the ceremony, while Adam’s sister Bethany is the only family member from his side expected to attend. The family rift reportedly began after some Peaty relatives were not invited to the engagement party, and was further highlighted when Caroline missed Holly’s hen do, which included Tana, Tilly, Victoria Beckham, and close family friends.
The Peatys’ side continues to face family tensions, but the wedding was held just days after her parents’ anniversary, which could serve as a nod to the Ramsay family’s own holiday wedding custom. The Ramsay family’s tradition of holiday weddings, their success and longevity are highlighted as the couple prepares to exchange vows. Although it is unclear whether Adam and Holly intentionally coincided with Gordon and Tana’s Christmas anniversary, the coincidence adds a symbolic element to the wedding.
