In their first NBA game since Terry Rozier’s arrest over alleged illegal sports betting, the Miami Heat won a crushing 146-114 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

In addition to the extensive FBI investigation into illegal gambling, Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was detained. The allegations are disputed by both men.

The Heat maintained their lead throughout the entire franchise’s 37-year history by posting 86 first-half points, which was the biggest half-time advantage in the franchise’s 37-year history.

With 24 points, Bam Adebayo led the way and claimed Rozier had the team’s full support.

We support him, “We.” “Voluntary support,” Adebayo declared. You steadfastly support him. At the end of the day, that’s our brother.

Erik Spoelstra, the head coach of the Heat, continued, “Terry is a very dear person to everyone.” He has transformed our locker room significantly.

We express our thoughts and feelings to him as he goes through this.

In Billups’ absence, Portland also won their first game against the Golden State Warriors, winning 139-119. Brazilian Tiago Splitter took over as interim coach.

NBA Commissioner “concerned” by arrests

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver described the arrests as the first time he was personally disturbed by the recent events.

He told Amazon Prime, “There is nothing more important to the league and its fans than the integrity of the competition.” And that’s when my stomach started to feel pitty. It caused a lot of grief.

Silver added that nothing indound when Rozier’s actions in a March 2023 game between the Charlotte Hornets and the New Orleans Pelicans were the subject of an NBA investigation.

The betting companies and the regulators “attracted our attention,” he continued.

We then conducted an investigation and were completely honest about it. And while that was the case, we couldn’t, to be honest, find anything.

The federal government has the authority to appoint people for interviews, threaten people to be imprisoned, and impose restrictions on the league office.

We’ve been working with them since then, they said. And of course, what they announced yesterday was an indictment.

In fairness to Terry, two and a half years later, he still hasn’t been found guilty of anything.

Luka Doncic, a Los Angeles Lakers star, added more than 40 points for the first time in a row in other games to open the season.

The Slovenian added 49 points to go with 11 rebounds and eight assists as the Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 128-110 in the season-opening game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, a Greek forward, also had a stellar night, scoring 31 points, 20 rebounds, and adding seven assists against the Toronto Raptors in Milwaukee.
