Freddie Mercury’s secret daughter has died at the age of 48, her family has announced, following a battle with a rare type of cancer
Freddie Mercury’s daughter has died, before she was able to prove her true connection to the rock legend. The lady – known only as B – was born in 1976 after Freddie had a reported fling with a friend’s wife.
The lady’s widower confirmed today that she died “peacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, leaving two sons aged nine and seven”. Her ashes were scattered in the Alps, said her husband who added she is now “with her beloved and loving father”.
The woman’s existence was revealed in a bombshell memoir by music journalist Lesley-Ann Jones who worked closely with the woman the Queen star called ‘Bibi’ as she shared her huge secret.
“They didn’t identify themselves at the time,” said Lesley-Ann, adding that the initial email the woman sent was 26,000 words long and 41 pages. Author Lesley received huge backlash on her book as the secret was shared with the world.
Some critics told ‘B’ to undertake a DNA test but that wasn’t possible because Freddie was cremated in 1991. His parents had also passed away. The only solution would have been for Freddie’s younger sister Kashmira Bulsara to help.
“I wrote to her to invite her to talk to me. She didn’t respond. From what I was told, Kashmira was very against the idea of this child because of their religion,” Lesley-Ann had said.
Explaining how she knew to believe B, Lesley-Ann added: “They said they’d read my most recent book, Love Of My Life , and thanked me for getting closer to Freddie’s true story than anyone had previously. But also that there were some more things I should know. So we struck up a correspondence. That’s when the pennies began to drop.
“There were lots of contradictions. And that’s exactly who Freddie was. She wasn’t trying to convince me of anything but she was able to answer all of my questions with answers that I could then research.”
She added: “I thought it might be Roger’s daughter. But in the end I concluded that it had to be Freddie’s child,” to which B responded: “She said, ‘You guessed it, I didn’t tell you.’
“She went to her first Queen gig when she was five. She met Freddie’s parents when she was eight, when she and her family moved to London. At that point, it was possible but she was never actually allowed to spend Christmas with Freddie.”
