Residents of London have criticized Harry Styles’ plans to re-join his own two properties into a massive megamansion, raising concerns for him.
Harry Styles’ grand plans for a mega-mansion in Hampstead have created tension with his neighbours, who are becoming concerned about the size and scale of the development.
The former One Direction star, 30, has spent the past few years quietly amassing property in the exclusive north London neighbourhood.
In 2019, he purchased a Grade II listed home for £8.8million, before adding the adjoining house for £4.175million to his portfolio. Last year, he snapped up a third property – and more recently acquired a fourth – with the goal of combining them into a sprawling estate that could rival his pal Ed Sheeran ’s well-known Suffolk compound.
Styles intends to combine at least two of the homes into a massive residence, according to planning documents that were submitted to Camden Council.
A gallery, a drawing room, a TV lounge, and a master suite are among the proposed designs. A basement is intended to house a cinema, a pool, a sauna, a gym, and even a water feature in the backyard.
Two of Styles’ neighbors have complained about these ambitious plans, alleging that they would obstruct the flow of natural light into their properties.
My client is also very concerned about the protection of their private legal rights that might be violated as a result of the proposal or a similar scheme of this nature, according to a letter from their representatives.
Another local resident told The Daily Telegraph : “It’s sad living next to a building site all the time.” They went on to say that houses in the area are “constantly” being snapped up by millionaires and “redone”, adding that the constant renovations have meant “less community” on the street, with some people even choosing to move away.
Styles made efforts to support local wildlife, so he was given conditional permission to combine two of his homes in April.
The pop star intends to encircle the grounds with bat boxes and hedgehog houses. The singer’s representatives emphasized the importance of careful handling of the project.
They claimed in documents that the proposed development had been “one of the great Hampstead houses” and had been “proposed development has been carefully crafted.”
It proposes to reunite the two homes in order to restore and significantly improve the Grade II listed building, along with internal alterations, extensions to the second, ground, and lower ground floors, and extensive landscaping.
Additionally, they urged the use of community engagement events and the use of natural light-absorbing materials by neighbors.
Reports suggest Styles hopes the ambitious project will be completed by October 2027. A source told The Sun: “Harry is giving Ed a run for his money with his North London estate. Two of the homes are being converted into one mega-mansion, while the third sits a way away from them and is a bit of an investment property.
“This fourth new pad could be a part of the mega-mansion estate and will have a drive and a massive garden connected to the two houses being knocked through. The work Harry put in creating this dream home is incredible.
