A former Harry Potter star has lashed out at “obsessed billionaire” J. K. Rowling in a furious outburst. Sean Biggerstaff took to social media to criticise the woman behind the book series over her views on transgender rights.

Author JK, 59, has come under fire in the past over her views of the trans community and most recently celebrated after the Supreme Court ruled that trans women are not legally women. Last week, the Supreme Court ruled that the definition of a woman and sex in the Equality Act relates to “a biological woman and biological sex”.

Lord Hodge, who announced the decision, made clear that this was not a victory for either side, stressing that the law gives trans people protection against discrimination. “The unanimous decision of this court is that the terms woman and sex in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological woman and biological sex,” he said. “But we counsel against reading this judgement as a triumph of one or more groups in our society at the expense of another. “

It followed a number of challenges presented by Scottish campaign group, For Women Scotland (FWS) over the definition of a woman in Scottish legislation, mandating 50 per cent of female representation on public boards. JK later took to social media to share her views on the matter.

The author had previously donated £70,000 to the anti-trans group for their legal fight and to support them. She said: “It took three extraordinary, tenacious Scottish women with an army behind them to get this case heard by the Supreme Court and, in winning, they’ve protected the rights of women and girls across the UK. @ForWomenScot, I’m so proud to know you. “

Now, Biggerstaff has responded after JK was accused of “smoking a blunt”, with her explaining it was “demonstratively a cigar” as kicked back on holiday. He fumed: “Bigotry rots the wit. ” In another post after JK shared a news article with the caption: “In case it wasn’t clear: don’t f**k with Scottish women,” he added: “The majority of Scottish women, who don’t agree with these d***heads, aren’t being bankrolled by an obsessed billionaire. “

Sean, who appeared alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson later reshared a post which compared JK to Andrew Tate. A social media user posted JK’s snap of herself smoking on a cigar alongside the caption: “Lol, huffing on a cigar now? Is she Andrew Tate? “

Sean re-shared it to his 55,000 followers on X, formerly known as Twitter. He later went on to show his support for his leading co-stars, who have all been vocal about disagreeing with JK’s outspoken views. One social media user penned: “Wonder how these disloyal bags of s**t are doing today?”

Commenting with his own views, Sean wrote: “You don’t have to wonder. You know what they’re doing – leading happy and successful lives, having not driven their families away with their hateful obsessions. “

Sean, who frequently uses his platform to show his support for the transgender community also responded to the Supreme Court’s ruling. In a post, he said that the “loudest voices” had been “using concern for sex-based rights as cover for entirely reactionary politics. “

Another post read: “Today is just a torrent of people being willfully simple-minded. A performance of pragmatism to cloak their instinctive distaste for the Other.” Sean isn’t the only celebrity to criticise J.K’s views, with Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan admitting she would never work on anything related to Harry Potter.

Referencing the upcoming HBO reboot of the series, she said: “Keep your new Harry Potter lads. Wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole. ” However, some social media users have praised J. K. for her viewers.
