Amanda Nunes is referred to as the “greatest of all time” by Kayla Harrison, who has urged the Brazilian to return to the UFC.

Nunes, a former champion of featherweight and bantamweight, is the only woman to ever win two UFC titles at once in two different weights.

After defending her bantamweight title against Irene Aldana in 2023, the 36-year-old retired, bringing her glittering 15-year career to a close.

She is, in my opinion, the greatest of all time. I don’t consider myself to be the second greatest athlete, but that’s a very clear distinction between where she has put herself and where she has put herself, Harrison said.

“May the best woman win and we may share the cage with respect and dignity.”

When Nunes spoke at a press conference earlier this month to discuss Julianna Pena’s bantamweight title defense against fellow American Harrison at UFC 316 on June 7, more people became curious about a potential return.

Nunes, who retired from the sport with 23 victories in 28 matches, also holds a number of women’s UFC records, including:

In June, the UFC will induct Nunes into its Hall of Fame in honor of her accomplishments.

After defeating Raquel Pennington in October, Pena, who shocked Nunes in 2021, won the bantamweight title before losing in the rematch the following year, will now face Harrison for the first time.
