Hardship: There’s Hope, I’m Ready To Listen, Tinubu Tells Catholic Bishops

President Bola Tinubu reiterated his commitment to running a government that pays attention to the needs of Nigerians in the wake of the country’s hardships.

On Friday, Tinubu received the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN). He provided the assurance.

He informed the bishops that eliminating the petroleum product subsidy made him a difficult choice when he took office in 2023.

He emphasized the fierce competition between the petroleum sector’s operators, the farmers’ plentiful harvests, and the country’s low commodity prices, adding that there are investments being made.

“Yes, it was difficult for me to get rid of the fuel subsidy, but Nigeria has to make a difficult choice. The President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said, “We are not going to bankrupt our country.”

“There is hope, and investors are arriving. They praise Nigeria in positive ways. That is very impressive to me. What appears to have started out very difficult is now giving us hope. And we’re still not at half-way there. I’m grateful to you all for your prayers, and I’m happy to see that this period is still alive and well.

The president lamented how everyone, including Christians and Muslims, is affected by the country’s current situation, and he also decried the country’s leadership.

He emphasized that adherents of all religions were already seeing the effects of the efforts, noting that the security agencies were already reducing the country’s insecurity.

Everyone is affected by this insecurity, including Muslims and Christians. I won’t be a bigot because I don’t have any religious prejudice. Redeemed Christian Church is led by my wife.

However, we must consider our nation because it needs to grow and transcend religious bigotry. And I’m here to listen, ready to answer you. We’ve been dating for some time. We don’t let people in. He declared, “I will not shut my door.”
