If Hamilton Academical players are late paid, they might decide to withdraw from Saturday’s Scottish League 1 game against East Fife.
The troubled club has informed the Scottish Professional Football League that it is unlikely that their players will be able to make their monthly salaries before the new year.
PFA Scotland’s spokesperson told BBC Scotland, “We are aware of what is happening at Hamilton and have informed the players of their rights.”
After receiving a 15-point penalty for a number of violations, including the non-payment of players, issues with the ownership of their stadium, and player registration, Hamilton was sent back to the previous season.
After paying trialists and fielding amateur players while undergoing a transfer embargo, they were then given a six-point penalty in October and moved to Broadwood Stadium, 15 miles away in Cumbernauld, this summer.
After failing to meet the SPFL’s requirement for all clubs to successfully obtain a bronze-level Scottish FA club licence by March 31st, they were subject to a further nine-point deduction on December 16.
