The 2025 Welsh Grand National at Chepstow was won by Sean Bowen on a home voyage aboard Haiti Couleurs.

At 5-1, the Rebecca Curtis-trained horse won by three lengths.

The eight-year-old Haiti Couleurs won the Irish National in 2024, and he is most likely going to start competing in the March Gold Cup at Cheltenham.

2023 champion Nassalam came in late, along with Midlands Grand National Champion Mr. Vango, who had won the previous season, with 19 runners going post.

The 9-2 favorite Jubilee Express attempted to finish the race, but Kielan Woods put his jumping on hold in the second circuit and was pushed back five yards.

Last year, the Bowen-Curtis duo teamed up to win the Irish Grand National, and Bowen’s front-riding strategy has proven to be effective.

Trainer Curtis was pleased to put a line through the horse because he had been given a 16-day race turnaround, which might have been a little quicker, despite the fact that he had already been pulled up in his final start at Haydock.

He’s absolutely amazing, according to Curtis, “but I thought the weight would get him today.”

“We knew we had him bang-on today, but that performance was weak.”

On the cards for a gold cup?

With a 25% strike rate, champion jockey Bowen has won 162 races overall and has been competing at a high level all season.

Bowen remarked, “It’s incredible to win the Welsh race in my home country,”

I can’t quite believe Rebecca gave an incredible training performance to bring him back.

He has provided me and the entire team with incredible horses.
