After being taken to the hospital, Crystal Palace’s captain Marc Guehi and midfielder Adam Wharton both missed the team’s FA Cup celebrations.
After suffering a blow to the eye while winning their first major trophy, England defender Guehi was substituted in the second half of their 1-0 win over Manchester City at Wembley.
After the final whistle, the 24-year-old was still able to lead his team up the Wembley steps and celebrate with their teammates on the field.
After the game, Guehi was taken to a hospital in an ambulance with concerns that he had a broken eye socket and that the defender had a slight vision loss.
Guehi has reportedly avoided a fracture but experienced severe bruising, according to what is understood from tests. However, it is still to be seen if he will be able to play in Palace’s final two Premier League games.
Guehi should be available for England’s matches against Andorra and Senegal on June 7 and 10.
He spent the night in the hospital before being discharged at midnight, which meant he had to miss the team’s celebration at Boxpark, which is close to Wembley Stadium.
Wharton, Guehi’s team-mate in England, was also absent from the post-game celebration.
After being struck on the back of the head by Kevin de Bruyne with a vicious shot, he was taken to a hospital for concussion checks.
