The nominations for the Grammy Awards have been revealed, and in an unexpected twist, Taylor Swift hasn’t been nominated – despite having one of the biggest albums
The Grammy Award nominations are out, and Taylor Swift has been snubbed. Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar has found himself with an impressive nine nominations.
Lamar’s nine nominations for his album GNX are part of a wave of hip-hop albums competing in the Grammys’ top categories, including Tyler, the Creator’s Chromakopia and Let God Sort Em Out from Clipse, Pusha T and Malice. Other top nominees, announced Friday, include Lady Gaga, producer Jack Antonoff and Sabrina Carpenter.
Elsewhere, British rock star Yungblud has been nominated for three gongs at the awards. But it’s Taylor who hasn’t been recognised, despite having the biggest album of the year.
However, Taylor’s Life of a Showgirl failed to find itself in the nominations due to its release date of October 3, 2024. The period of eligibility for the 68th awards was August 31 2024 – August 30, 2025. She won’t be able to submit her record until the 2027 Grammy Awards.
Meanwhile, Timothée Chalamet is up for best compilation soundtrack for visual media for A Complete Unknown, for his portrayal of the great Bob Dylan. But competition is stiff: He’ll have to beat out Wicked, KPop Demon Hunters, Sinners and F1 the Album. Read below for the nominations in full.
