Gov Yusuf Suspends Political Aide Over Inflammatory Comment

One of his political aides, Ibrahim Rabi’u, has been fired by Kano State governor Abba Kabir Yusuf because of what he claims are “unguarded and inflammatory statements” regarding Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s alleged defection.

Following the instruction from Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the secretary of state government, Rabi’u, who is a Senior Special Reporter with the Ministry of Transportation, was immediately suspended.

Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the director general of media and publicity at the Government House, stated in a press release that the aide’s comments did not represent the government’s position and were made without authorization.

In the Niger Truck Accident, there were 16 injuries and seven deaths.

The government “has distanced itself from the purported claim,” the statement read, describing the suspended aide’s statement as being solely the result of his best efforts.

The suspended aide is expected to respond to a question regarding the statement, which sparked controversy in state political circles.

All political appointees were issued a strong warning, especially on sensitive political issues, by Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson.

“The government advises all political appointees against making offensive remarks, particularly those that are not within their purview.” Before making public remarks on issues that have to do with the government’s position on matters of public importance or sensitive political decisions, Bature continued.
