The state-owned airline Enugu Air has been unveiled by Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, who described it as a huge step forward for the state and a gold standard for government-private partnership partnerships.
What the governor called a historic moment for “Ndi Enugu” was the start of the state-owned airline’s inaugural flight on Monday.
Mbah said the accomplishments were in line with his administration’s strategy to make Enugu a top tourist destination in Nigeria for investment, living, and tourism, as he said at the launch.

He declared, “It is an honor to stand before you today, both as a governor and as a fellow believer in the power of vision.”
Although the launch occurred two weeks after the second anniversary of his administration, Mbah referred to it as a “fit gift to Ndi Enugu.”

He emphasized that Enugu Air was more than just an airline; it was a bold move toward fostering enterprise and reshaping previously unexplored areas.
No empty promises were made when we began this journey. When we first took office, we made the commitment to make Enugu the top destination for both investment and living in Nigeria. The governor noted that there is a clear path to that goal as of right now.
According to Mbah, Enugu Air’s launch also tapped the potential for strategic public-private partnerships to develop.
He continued, “We are opening doors to a sector that once seemed out of reach” with our airline. We take our first flight together today because Ubuntu Air has given our dreams more wings.
Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, clarified that the Enugu airport’s future was being made available to private investors during his speech at the ceremony.
“No, we are selling Enugu airport out,” I’ve heard. We’re making concessions. The process is supported by the National Assembly committees, the Ministry of Aviation, and FAAN, Mr. President.
He said, “We are just in the process of handing Enugu airport to private investors who will come and open this place, including the cargo terminal.”
Keyamo predicts that the cargo terminal will significantly increase regional economic activity.
“You can now process exports directly from Enugu to benefit the Enugu people and their jobs,” the cargo terminal said. I felt the need to mention it right now.
