Gov. Fubara Rejects Emergency Rule, Maintains Rivers is Peaceful, Secure

Siminilayi Fubara, governor of the troubled Rivers State, has resisted President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency, insisting that Rivers will remain peaceful, secure, and safe under his leadership.
In a speech to the Rivers State residents on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Fubara addressed the state’s residents about Tinubu’s proclamation of emergency rule. The state’s proclamation came at the height of political unrest and security issues.
However, the governor urged the people to maintain peace and follow the law in the state despite the state’s declared state of emergency.
Since taking office, he claimed that his administration has followed the oath of office and a great sense of duty.
Fubara claimed that he had given the protection of people’s lives and property precedence and that the state had continued to advance.
We have remained committed to the rule of law and the rule of law, placing the interests of our citizens before everything else, despite the political impasse.
This is why, right away after Mr. President’s intervention to broker peace, we resolutely followed the agreed terms, including welcoming back commissioners who had previously resigned on their own volition, he said.
We immediately responded to the Supreme Court’s decision by delivering the state’s legal order right away.
He noted that these actions were taken not for personal gain, but to promote stability, harmony, and harmony in our beloved state.
Unfortunately, Rivers State House of Assembly members consistently thwarted our efforts, which in turn made for genuine peace and progress difficult.
He reiterated that protecting the safety of people’s lives and property and advancing the Rivers people’s well-being and prosperity are still top priorities for his administration.
Fubara noted that despite political unrest, the state’s good governance had persisted, employees were paid, and outstanding projects were being carried out.
He continued, citing the fact that Rivers people had always been resilient people and would continue to face the situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process. “All in, the state is safe, secure, and peaceful under his watch,” he insisted.
We will work with all relevant organizations to ensure that the Rivers State’s economy and democracy remain strong.
