
Governor Mai Mala Buni paid a condolences to the victims’ families and the survivors of the boat accident that claimed 29 lives in Yobe State’s Nguru Local Government Area.
The governor described the incident as a massive loss to the local government, Yobe state as a whole, and his deputy, Idi Barde-Gubana, who represented him.
As well as food, the government distributed 500, 000 dollars to each of the bereaved families and 200, 000 to each of the rescued victims, totaling $ 20 million.
Along with other top government figures from the area, the delegation included the Yobe State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker Ya’u Dachia, a member of the local assembly, Tijjani Zanna-Zakariya, the Secretary to the State Government, and the Yobe State Government’s Secretary, Baba Mallam-Wali.
No one can change what happened in this instance, which is a divine deed. The governor assured that all riverine boat drivers will receive training in modern driving techniques, and the government will provide life jackets to the regions using boats, according to Barde-Gubana in Hausa.
Additionally, those who lost their lives would receive a token of N200,000 each to be given to each of their families and those who have been saved would each receive N200,000.
