
The Ekiti Local Government Area, particularly the Eruku axis, needs more urgent security deployment, according to AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara State, to stop the region’s recent wave of attacks.
In a statement released by the governor’s chief press officer, Rafiu Ajakaye, regarding the attack on Eruku town in the state’s Ekiti local government area, AbdulRazaq demanded more security personnel to back up the area’s already strong security system.

He requested that the new initiative be immediately activated.
He sympathized with the people of Eruku and the surrounding area, particularly the families and the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), who were directly affected by the attack on Tuesday.
He further stated that the state government would continue to support the state’s security organizations in their efforts to address the issues and ensure the safety of residents and property.
The governor praised President Bola Tinubu for deploying 900 more troops in Kwara, saying that it would increase state security.
Police confirm the attack
The police authority has confirmed the attack in the interim.
The police  confirmed an attempted bandit attack in Eruku, which took place on Tuesday at around 6 p.m., in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetohun Ejire-Adeyemi.
The hoodlums fled into the bush after the DPO in Eruku and his team of police officers, working with vigilantes, quickly responded to the sound of gunshots coming from the town’s fringes.
Additionally, it revealed that the attack left two people seriously injured.
Residents of the Eruku community in Kwara State’s Ekiti Local Government Area reported that two people were killed and an unknown number of others were abducted on Tuesday evening in a violent attack against the Eruku community.
Residents Concerned By Attacks
Many residents fled into nearby bushes for safety, according to eyewitnesses in the community who told our correspondent. The attackers “suddenly and heavily armed” the area when they stormed, forcing many people to flee.
“They started shooting when they arrived at nightfall.” We don’t even know how many people were killed, according to a resident.
Another resident lamented that bandits had been launching “perpetual attacks” in Eruku repeatedly despite receiving numerous distress calls.
Nothing concrete has been requested by the local and state governments, despite our best efforts. Every day, he continued, “We live in fear.”
In recent weeks, resistance from the police, vigilantes, and Eruku Progressive Union has increased, according to community members, but fears of a worsening insecurity have increased as a result.
Federal assistance is required. An elder in the community pleaded with the community, “These attacks are becoming too much for us to bear.”
The Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Kebbi State, was attacked by gunmen days after 26 schoolgirls were kidnapped by them.
Malam Hassan Makuku, the school’s vice principal, reportedly perished in the attack.
