
A commercial building in the Computer Village, Ikeja, area of Lagos State, was the victim of a fire that destroyed millions of naira worth.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 1:55 a.m., according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, which triggered the state’s emergency response plan from its Command and Control Center in Alausa.
“A fire outbreak was observed in a one-storey commercial building accommodating dealers in computers and accessories in Computer Village, Ikeja upon the arrival of the LASEMA Response Team at the incident scene.
Responders observed dense smoke and active flames, which suggested the structure was in intense combustion. The statement released on Tuesday morning, read in part, reads in part, “the high volume of combustible materials contributed to the rapid spread of fire.”

LASEMA said the cause of the fire had not been determined and was still being looked into, though some firefighters did suffer minor injuries.
The organization explained that the fire completely destroyed the entire upper floor of the building, giving more details about the incident. The structure had been partially damaged, and it said the contents of every store were destroyed, and the structure would need to be evaluated right away.
It explained that the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASAMBUS, and the Nigeria Police Force were the only organizations that had coordinated a multi-agency response to stop the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings after conducting a risk assessment, cordoned off the affected area.
The conflagration completely destroyed all goods and properties held in circulation that were worth millions of naira.
