Gok Wan has admitted he is still coming to terms with a health diagnosis he received a few years ago. The fashion guru-turned-DJ was told he had ADHD and he has confessed it is still taking some getting his head around.

However, in a bid to help others who have the condition, the 50-year-old star took to social media to share a message of support. Uploading an article he had found helpful and interesting, Gok shared a post surrounding dealing with grief when you have ADHD, which stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

According to the NHS, the condition makes the brain work differently to most people. Symptoms include being easily distracted, finding it hard to listen to what people are saying or to follow instructions, and forgetting everyday tasks, such as brushing teeth or putting on socks.

In Gok’s post, he said: “’Ive not really spoken about my ADHD as it’s still something I’m learning to understand as I was diagnosed only a couple of years ago.

“Anyway, this morning I read an interesting article about GRIEF (which took me f***ing forever – ADHD fam, IYKYK lol)… for anyone with ADHD and is grieving, this article may help.”

He then shared a link to the article on the Mini ADHD Coach website. And fans were grateful for his post.

Among those sharing the gratitude was internet personality Steven Carter-Bailey who wrote: “Thanks, sweetheart xx,” with a love heart emoji.

Another user penned: “Grief is hard for everyone but when you can’t quite process it in the same way as others it becomes more than just grief… xx hugs,” while a third added: “My daughter has ADHD – knew there was a reason I can relate to you so much. You are wonderful.”

Last year the TV host opened up on how he almost didn’t make it into his career in fashion . Instead, he claimed he was “really interested” in economics.

Speaking to the Mirror in December, Gok confessed he had “always fantasised” of working in finance or in the City. The How To Look Good Naked star said: “I wanted a career change.

“And I always fantasised about the idea of working in finance or working in the City. I know, it sounds bizarre. But I’m really interested in economics. I think I probably could have done it.”

And he also revealed how losing a pal to breast cancer made him treat life “like a daily bucket list”. He went on to admit that his life’s path hasn’t taken him on the route he had initially envisaged.

Gok, who is single, previously revealed how he was hopeful he would be a father before he turned 45. However, he admits that his path may not feature parenthood: “My paternal need was never strong enough. It was only ever the fear of missing out,” he said.

“I did think, ‘Am I going to regret this?’ I might still. I’ve kind of come to terms with the idea. I have to be confident enough to know it’s not right for me right now.”
