Kate Garraway has suffered a freak accident after colliding with a taxi. Kate suffered two cracked teeth as she showed off the aftermath on her Instagram.

The Good Morning Britain anchor shared a video of her cracked tooth caps and explained that she had initially used Fixodent to try to secure them in place before going on air. However, just minutes before she started broadcasting, the fixative, used to secure dentures in place, came away, causing the broken-off tooth to fall out.

Captioning her video, Kate said: “Backstage dramas @ gmb – & for once it’s real! Letting you in on the horror behind the scenes on Monday’s show… After an unfortunate collision with a taxi window at the weekend I cracked my two front teeth caps.. of course they then fell out just before going on air.

“All I can say is it’s hard to appear young and cool in front of a whole new team of trendy producers when you are reduced to glueing your teeth on with denture fixative at three in the morning!!! An emergency trip to dentist means now have a temporary set of fake teeth …but they are soooo massive – bless you @alancarr I now know your challenges!! Just hoping they hold for @gmb tmrw from 6 a.m with @richardmadeleyofficial – glue at the ready!!!”

The comment section of Kate’s post was soon flooded with messages from her co-stars and followers. Susanna Reid commented: “Oh my,” along with a crying face emoji and red heart.

Meanwhile, Ashley James, went on to write: “OMG Kate!!” Fellow ITV anchor Jonathan Swain said: “I was standing next to you in the studio and didn’t notice a thing!”

“Thought this was AI!! Hope you get your teeth fixed soon,” commented one fan. A second typed: “Good job it was just the caps you damaged.” “Ah the glamour,” said another.

Kate’s freak injury came after she addressed rumours that she had a “new boyfriend”, following the death of her husband, Derek, who died in 2024. Kate shared an AI-generated image of herself and a man, which has been circulating on social media, with some believing this was her new boyfriend.

Sharing a snap of a newspaper headline, she penned: “Very excited to see my ‘new boyfriend’ revealed”, as she then joked: “isn’t he #dreamy?!!” But she later clarified that it was completely generated by artificial intelligence and there was no truth to the speculation.

She added: “for months now people (even those who know me really well) have been asking me about stuff out there that is totally fake. On one level, it’s really sweet that people care about my life, but very confusing and in some cases, hurtful for the kids when it’s #fakenews.

“Thank goodness we still have some proper ‘human’ journalists out there, but this is something all of us need to think about when getting our ‘news’ on the net, that it’s a trusted source. In this case, it only affects me really and is fundamentally silly and daft, but imagine if it were something more important, the damage it could do? #properjournalism #gmb.”
