Saracens (19) 19
To defeat Saracens at the StoneX Stadium, Gloucester-Hartpury won their third Premiership Women’s Rugby title in a row thanks to a strong second-half performance.
Jess Breach and Lotte Sharp scored for Sarries, who were playing at their home ground, to take the lead 19-5.
Before the break, the visitors scored 29 unanswered points, with the exception of Kate Williams, Emma Sing, and Mia Venner, and forwards Maud Muir, Neve Jones, and Natasha “Mo’ Hunt, co-captain.
Second-half showback: Champions fight back.
Before Saracens scored three quick tries in the opening 20 minutes, Gloucester-Hartpury took control with a breathless first try.
Sarries were ahead before Gloucester co-captain Hunt was sent to the sin-bin after conceding a penalty try thanks to Breach’s converted score.
Sing dotted down the corner as the visitors responded just in time for Hunt to be reintroduced as it was 19-5 to Saracens after Sharp crossed.
The champions were in complete control after the break, despite missing a chance to retake the lead at the end of the half due to Venner’s score on the opposite side.
As Muir and Jones dotted down at the back of the maul to give them an eight-point lead in the second half, the strength of their pack began to emerge.
Despite having Alex Matthews sent to the sin-bin, Gloucester-Hartpury completely in charge kept Sarries away.

I’ve heard that half-time, the girls told me I put a rocket into them. I’m so proud of these girls because they are so resilient. Let’s do what we value most, as I said, we need more energy.

Unfortunately, we did, but I thought the rugby we played in the first half was outstanding.
