Despite having talks about a move to Tottenham, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner anticipates Eberechi Eze to play in the team’s first European game.
After the goalless draw against Chelsea, Glasner stated to Sky Sports, “There are many rumors about Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi, but they were completely with this group,” and they have clearly demonstrated this.
Glasner discussed Eze’s future further by saying, “He will come to the Crystal Palace training ground tomorrow, Tuesday off, we take Wednesday, and I anticipate him playing for us against Fredrikstad.”
On Thursday (20:00 BST kick-off), Palace will face Norwegian side Fredrikstad in the Conference League play-off round.
The Eagles won the FA Cup last year to make history’s first-ever European qualifying event, but due to Uefa’s multi-club ownership laws, they were expelled from the Europa League.
According to Uefa’s regulations, Eze and Guehi could still play for another team in the league phase of European competition this year if they qualified for Palace’s Conference League qualifier.
According to Glasner, “Everyone could see the performances against Liverpool [in the Community Shield], and today they were completely in tune with this team and Crystal Palace,” he added.
The England international’s contract includes an initial sum of $ 60 million plus an additional $ 8 million in add-ons, and an expired release clause.
Tottenham reportedly is negotiating an offer that is only slightly below the total release date.
Talks between Palace and Premier League champions Liverpool are ongoing, and it’s similar to the case with England’s center-back Guehi.
Steve Parish, the club’s chairman, stated last week that the Eagles would sell their captain this summer to prevent losing him to the end of his contract.
