Glasgow Commonwealth Games mascot unveiled

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will have a unicorn named Finnie as its official mascot, with a traffic cone for a horn.

The character made her first official appearance at dawn to mark the start of the games by making her first official appearance at the city’s famous Finnieston Crane.

She replaces Clyde the Thistle as the mascot for the final Glasgow Games in 2014 with the help of schoolchildren from Glasgow.

Following the state’s withdrawal from the Commonwealth Games in Australia for financial reasons, Glasgow will host a smaller version of the event in 2019.

Both the Duke of Wellington statue with a traffic cone on its head and the Finnieston Crane, where Finnie made her first appearance, are iconic Glasgow landmarks.

The mascot said in a statement that was made available on her behalf that she would participate in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on May 1 with a grin, wave, and possibly a wee dance.

As Glasgow 2026 envelops the city, I’m here to make people’s nerves into excitement, stir the cheers, and make every moment magical. “

On Wednesday, Florence will be present at a number of events to celebrate the one-year tally of the games, including First Minister John Swinney and Olympic medalist Eilidh Doyle, 10,000m champion Eilish McColgan, and Olympic medalist Eilidh Doyle.

According to Phil Batty, the head of Glasgow 2026, “Finnie represents everything Glasgow 2026 is about: fun, friendliness, and of course that little bit of magic!”

Mr. Batty predicted that the 2014 edition of the event would be “just as electric as the 2014 Games.”

The venues we’re using have hosted world-class events since then and ever since, he said.

There will still be over 200 medal events taking place over the course of ten days because we are in an eight-mile corridor.
