The 1872 Cup was won for the fourth time in a row by the Glasgow Warriors after coming home from Edinburgh with victory in a mostly dull match at Murrayfield.

With only two points in the half-time period left, Cammy Scott kicked Edinburgh’s only points of the half while the hosts held a 24-12 overall lead from last weekend’s first leg.

When George Horne burrowed over from close range and Dobie scored a wonderful second to win, the second period largely remained a non-event.

Edinburgh had stated their intention to fire more shots this time around after a brutal attacking performance at Hampden in the first leg, but Scott knocked over a penalty to give the home side an early lead. However, they once again failed to offer any meaningful threat.

The match struggled to get into any kind of flow, not least of which due to a number of injury stoppages that occurred throughout the match. There was no shortage of desire and physicality on display.

Glasgow fly-half Adam Hastings grabbed a pass from Horne, stepped inside a defender, and kicked a precise cross-field kick into Dobie’s corner for the first time.

Edinburgh’s attack was failing to offer much, but Glasgow’s offense was sparked by Glasgow flanker Angus Fraser’s high shot on Scott, who was sent to the sin-bin for a high shot.

Edinburgh’s action was almost nonexistent, and even the numerical advantage couldn’t bring it to life.

Warriors eventually ran out for one last run before Edinburgh were ruined when Horne sniped close to the line for the try that earned the win.
