Sorana Cirstea, a Romanian tennis player, has filed an appeal to have her trophy returned after it was allegedly taken from her hotel room in New York.
At the Tennis in the Land championship in Cleveland on August 23, the 35-year-old won her third WTA singles title, and her first since 2021.
The Fifty Sonesta’s room 314’s world-renowned artist, The World No. 57, asked on Instagram, “Who stole my Cleveland trophy please return it.”
It has sentimental value instead of material value! We would appreciate it greatly! “Thank you.”
The US Open, which Cirstea then played in at Flushing Meadows in New York, was just one day before the event.
She lost to partner Anna Kalinskaya in the first round of the doubles, and to 11th seed Karolina Muchova, in the second round.
The pair, who earlier won the Madrid Open on clay earlier this year, were disappointed with their performance.
The Fifty Sonesta Hotel, where Cirstea was staying in New York, where she was staying, vanished with her trophy, adding to that.
