The conclusion is therefore out. The late, vile financier and child sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein has been cleared of any association with US President Donald Trump. This is alleged to be true by Epstein’s former partner Ghislaine Maxwell, who was given a 20-year prison sentence in 2022 on sex trafficking charges.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly informed the president that his name appeared in the so-called “Epstein files,” which Trump had stated on the campaign trail he would be very interested in releasing.
However, once in office, he made the unwarranted assumption that the Epstein case was old news, even going so far as to criticize those in his own MAGA base who were “stupid” and “foolish” enough to continue demanding that the files be declassified.
The US Justice Department has now released transcripts of an interview between Maxwell and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, a former Trump personal attorney, who had nothing but praise for the president’s moral steadiness.
“Never in any way did I see the president in an inappropriate setting.” Never did the president have inappropriate relations with anyone. He was a gentleman in every way when I was with him.
Maxwell’s admiration for the president seemed to be unbroken. Trump never failed to approach me and treat me with kindness and respect, declaring that she liked him and had always liked him.
Never mind Maxwell’s reputation as a repeat liar who faced perjury charges for lying under oath after being found guilty of other charges. It is undoubtedly not related to Maxwell’s current plea for a presidential pardon from the same man that led to the obsequious tribute to Trump’s allegedly upstanding behavior.
In any case, the admirable assessment should at least at least help dispel many Trump supporters’ dissatisfaction with how the administration handled the Epstein case. Maxwell’s testimony, which Trump praised as “terrific” and “very special,” was welcomed as proof that the president “has always been an honorable person,” by far-right influencer and self-categorised “proud Islamophobe” Laura Loomer, for example.
Loomer expressed confidence that harmony would soon be restored among MAGA adherents, saying that “these transcripts will quell a lot of the nasty, salacious lies and rumors that were spread by bad actors online.”
Nothing is more inspiring than the kinship between members of a hate and discord group.
Trump has since stated that he “couldn’t care less” about the US Justice Department’s release of the Epstein files to Congress.
The president continued, “The Democrats don’t know what to do, so they keep bringing up that stuff,” he said in a press release, citing the “whole Epstein thing is a Democrat hoax” as a result of the Democratic Party’s inability to deal with Trump’s remarkable success at the helm of the country.
The president’s brain typically makes most calculations, but there is no connection between the “greatest” time period’s proclamation and actuality. In fact, the majority of what has occurred over the past six or seven months has been decidedly uninspired – not that anything from Joe Biden, Trump’s Democratic predecessor, was particularly encouraging.
Americans continue to suffer from rising living costs, which many consider to be the unsustainable behavior of many people. Gun violence constitutes a veritable national pastime, and basic rights like housing, education, nutrition, and healthcare have long been turned into for-profit organizations.
Under Trump’s direction, US law enforcement organizations have abducted and vanished undocumented employees, foreign academics, and citizens of the United States. Washington, D.C., the nation’s capital, has also been militarized as a result of National Guard troops’ deployments to allegedly “fight crime” in the city’s sparsely populated areas.
Meanwhile, over the past six or seven months, Trump has continued to support Israel’s massive international genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip while also bombing Iran in egregious violation of international law.
The UN officially declared famine in Gaza just days ago, which is a logical outcome of Israeli efforts to enforce starvation under US control.
And all of this while the Trump administration prioritizes denying climate change, which is only making things worse.
Trump’s de facto character from Maxwell is at best completely irrelevant in light of the rather apocalyptic landscape: he kisses the back of another convicted criminal who also happens to be the president of the United States.
Maxwell’s testimony adds just more suspense to the dystopian cake. The character certificate at least at least summarizes where the United States is headed heading in the near future, at least until at least the “greatest” months in 2025.
