Geri Halliwell has opened up on her close friendship with George Michael – who she lived with twice – and admitted she once ‘ tried flirting ‘ with the music icon
Geri Halliwell has talked candidly about the comfort she found in George Michael’s friendship, particularly over shared experiences of loss. The singer, 52, who shot to stardom with the Spice Girls in the late 90s, fostered a connection with the celebrated musician George – who passed away on Christmas Day 2016 at 53-years-old as both had endured the pain of losing a parent.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, she reflected: “I don’t think about]being noticed], I don’t see it. I learnt from George Michael how to deal with all that. He was an angel to me. He protected me from the minute we met. He’d lost his mother, I’d lost my father.
” And he was someone I could talk to openly about grief. We lived together twice and I’d play my music to him and he told me when I could do better. I tried flirting with him once, and it didn’t work, and I was like, ‘ What? ‘”.
Moreover, the ‘ Mi Chico Latino ‘ artist is wed to F1 honcho Christian Horner and together they have seven year old Monty, while Geri is also mum to 18 year old Bluebell Madonna, whose dad is Sacha Gervasi following a fleeting relationship.
Having transitioned from pop fame to becoming a children’s author, Geri disclosed — seemingly for the first time — while discussing her daughter’s love of literature, that her husband Christian has” formally adopted “Bluebell.
As Geri puts it:” You know Bluebell is studying English literature. She’s brilliant at writing. I run things past her. ]She got that from] her biological father, yes. Christian formally adopted her. It’s public knowledge. “
Geri opened up about her dynamic with Christian, to whom she said” I do “in 2015 following roughly a year and a half of courtship. The duo, she explained, is” quite silly “when they’re in their private abode.
She shared:” We’ll find a TV series that we lock into. I’ll try my best not to watch it when he goes away. I waited for him before finishing ‘ Severance’. We like playing games too. Next month the Wannabe star is hopping across the pond to promote her Rosie Frost children’s books. Geri recently took to Instagram to announce her plans to her 1.4 million followers with a list of the venues she’ll be visiting in April to promote the popular adventure series. Geri’s first stop is New York, followed by Philadelphia, St. Louis, Atlanta and Miami.
She was also papped at Cheltenham Festival earlier this month, looking gorgeous in a staple all-white ensemble. Sporting a floor-length cream coat and caramel-coloured Fedora hat, the star, who attended the event without her husband, flashed a huge grin for the cameras as she stepped out in style.
