Donald Trump was criticized by the US president for allowing the Hollywood star to permanently reside in France. George Clooney responded by saying, “George Clooney, you can’t leave.
George Clooney has hit back at US President Donald Trump after he mocked the Hollywood actor for becoming a French citizen.
The 64-year-old movie star, his wife Amal, 47, and their two children, Ella and Alexander, twins, who are eight years old, have already moved to France.
The Ocean’s Eleven star explained why he had moved his family from America and that he was worried about raising his children in Hollywood’s capital. Despite the fact that a number of famous people have recently left the country as a result of what is happening in politics, Trump has won the presidency for the second time.
In a New Year’s Eve post, Trump slammed George and Amal and ranted: “Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France which is, sadly, in the midst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration, much like we had under Sleepy Joe Biden.”
He continued: “Remember when Clooney, after the now infamous debate, dumped Joe during a fundraiser, only to go onto the side of another stellar candidate, Jamala (K!), who is now fighting it out with the worst governor in the Country, including Tim Waltz, Gavin Newscum, for who is going to lead the Democrats to their future defeat.”

Trump continued to refer to George as an “average” actor who produces “totally mediocre” movies, saying that “Clooney received more publicity for his very few, and utterly subpar, movies.” He was just an ordinary man who consistently complained about common sense in politics. He wasn’t even a movie star.
In a New Year’s Day statement to The Hollywood Reporter, George responded to Trump’s outburst and said: “I totally agree with the current president. We have to make America great again.” He then added, in reference to the next US elections to be held in November 2026: “We’ll start in November.”
Sharing his reasons for relocating to France, George told Esquire magazine in October it was mainly down to the quality of life he wanted for his children and said: “I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France – they kind of don’t give a sh*t about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”
He explained in detail what their current state of life is. “We’re very lucky. In France, we grew up on a farm. Growing up on a farm, a significant portion of my life, and as a child I detested the idea. But now, they are, you know, not on their iPads? They must bring their dishes in after having dinner with grownups. They live much more peacefully.
A tractor Clooney uses to transport the kids around the farm is said to have 100 acres of grapes and 1,200 olive trees. Although George and Amal’s net worth is thought to be in the region of $ 400 million, it appears that the couple are determined to get their children to work for what they can.
Instead of paying someone to do the painting, George got his twins to help him with it in the spring. He continued, “At first they’re taking these tiny, tiny brushstrokes, boop, boop, boop. Nooo, paint the goddamn fence, I say. The fence is then covered in paint, oil, and other materials before they go crazy painting it. The purpose was to do the job.
Although he may be wealthy now, George was a struggling actor before landing the role of Dr. Doug Ross on the ER medical drama in his mid-30s. Before that, as a teenager, he had sold insurance door to door and even slept on a closet floor while attending auditions. He had also cut tobacco for three dollars per hour.
George shared a story about how he and Amal got into a 1962 Chrysler: “I said to Amal, Give me your stockings. And we returned home with a fan belt made of her stockings after she removed them. And she asks, “How did you do that?” And I said, “I’ve been living in poverty for 15 years!” I haven’t had health insurance in ten years.
Amal and the children’s transition to French life appears to be a little easier than her husband, who admits he is still “horrible” at French despite using an app to learn the language. He told French radio Canal+, “They speak]perfect French in front of me so they can insult me with insults, and I don’t know why.”
